Ft Pierce, all week to complete our to do list! Days 32-37….

Posted on March 9, 2019 by Barbara Huber

Life doesn’t stop even when you are living on a boat! Monday we rented a vehicle to go get our new mattress which was custom made by Zeno in Ft Lauderdale. Keeping my fingers crossed that it would be more comfortable than the old one. Joe and I got the old one off the boat. Whew! It was a heavy one!! We got the new one on the boat…it is much lighter than the last thank goodness. Joe made the bed as I made dinner, the homemade bolognese sauce. Yum. It hit the spot! We cleaned up the kitchen and were anxious to see how the new mattress slept…omg! It seemed so much bigger because this custom mattress fit under the headboard which the old one did not. Worth every penny!!!!!

Tuesday was a nice day. I worked in the morning then we went to the Seal Museum. It was very interesting. We would recommend it to anyone. Of course, we both like history. $15 per person.

We had been trying to get together with Jim and Jackie for docktails for days when our social director, Leann tried to put a docktails together…today was finally the day. Since we had a rental vehicle and it has been so windy, we picked them up. We enjoyed ourselves having a nice bottle of red wine and eating ham biscuits, truffled cheese and some other goodies. That was dinner! We drove them back to their marina. Super nice people we call new friends.

Wednesday was the day our new isolation boosting transformer was installed. This is why we have stayed in Ft Pierce so long. Joe really liked the mechanic so he had pulled the trigger Monday when he first came to the boat.

New marine isolation transformer with Auto Boost. No more Ground fault problems

When we woke up this morning it was in the high 40’s a good day to have our A/c off on the boat due to this work. There was suppose to be a mini farmers market at our marina. Jackie and I talked about meeting there. It was still so windy that I offered to pick them up. We parked and went to the market which wasn’t what we expected. I wanted veggies, Jackie wanted the ham and cheese croissants. I would have gotten them too if the bakery was there. We didn’t see anything either of us wanted. We left and drove to Publix. After dropping them off I went back to the boat and there they were, Still working on the boat. They quit around 4:30. I had lots of work to do, so I stayed in my office the rest of the afternoon.

Joe was worn out and so instead of cooking and cleaning he offered to go to 12A Buoy which my friend Carin in Lexington suggested we go to. We went at 5:10 and still had to wait 20 minutes. We each had a drink at the bar as we waited. Right on time, we got a table and each ordered stuffed Mahi. Delicious. Joe said it was worth the wait!

Tried to eat here the other day but was 1 1/2 hour wait

  • We both had the special
    It was very special!

Since they didn’t totally complete the job one guy came back Thursday morning to finish up. I worked in my office all day. We had an Asian chicken soup I had made for lunch. Joe made plans for our next stop. Dinner was pork tenderloin baked in a fennel Parmesan cream sauce. Pork, mashed potatoes with steamed asparagus hit the spot. Joe did the dishes, I dried and put everything away. We went to bed early as tomorrow morning we are driving to Ft Myers to move our 32’ Tiara back to our condo dock. I’ve written this post as we have driven ……

Barbara, how are you all enjoying it so far? Is it truly as beautiful as the pics show? Looks like you are meeting a lot of friends. Mike and LeAnn are gone right?

We are having a good time. The scenery is really pretty! We have met many people that are doing the same crazy trip! I still don’t get it but i’m Getting along ok. I love our home, our son, my life back home and I miss our friends! I can do this for 9 or 10 months however, this kind of life is not for me.

My husband Joe and I are friends of Mike and LeAnn and we also have a place on Ft Myers Beach. We met the Rowes in year two of our 3 year Loop adventure mostly in Canada. I hope to follow your blog and your trip! (Having trouble finding a link to be a follower, but I’ll keep looking). I hope you have an amazing trip… how could you not? Maybe we will celebrate your Loop crossing in FMB in the future. Enjoy!

Pam, They told us about you. Are you at Mid Island Marina? They couldn’t remember where you lived exactly. We hope to meet you in Oct or Nov. This blogging is hard work!
