Well, we pulled into Eau Gaille so we could get settled and watch University of Louisville Women and Men’s Basketball Teams play. Our women won and played North Carolina State, our Men lost to Virginia. We are die hard Cardinal Fans! Season ticket holders for men’s basketball for 43 years, football for 15 and women’s basketball for 7 years.

Very nice pool area Our Home Yacht Club flag flying here St Charles Yacht Club Ft Myers Gl
I cooked dinner that night…marinated flank steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. The harbor master told me they had an herb garden and we were welcome to cut herbs for dinner. Of course, we walked over and got some cilantro and fresh basil. I used the cilantro for salsa and the basil with my tomatoes. Yum.

We got up early the next morning and were off to Halifax Yacht Club in Daytona. The trip was 74.2 miles and took almost 9 hours…a looong day! Getting docked was a little difficult but as usual, Joe did a great job! It was Bike Week at Daytona so the sound of motorcycles was constant. Our friends, Jim and Jackie were in the marina next to us and we had invited them to dinner the next night. Jackie and I decided we needed to go to Publix tomorrow. We got settled and ate leftover pork tenderloin. We went to bed early this night! 9 hours of driving a boat makes you extremely tired.
We woke up, Joe got a ride from our harbor master to West Marine where he bought 2 batteries for our generators, Jackie and I called an Uber to go to Publix 3 miles away. We got a super nice lady, she waited for us. She was the best Uber driver we have had on this trip so far! We had decided that a little time in the pool would be a good idea this afternoon. We messaged Endorphin Voyager and asked them over.

Always eager to meet people that are on this same journey! Mackie and Karl came over and we sat by the pool. They told us they were originally from Lexington, Ky. Small world indeed! More conversation and we discovered I know Mackie’s mom! We certainly never expected to meet anyone from Lexington! We decided we would see each other at Marineland a few hours up the ICW. Jim and Jackie came over.
She had made a great Brie which we had on the flybridge with drinks. We had a chicken satay, rice, asparagus and a salad. The food was good, the company was even better! After a few drinks we decided we would have docktails at Marineland the next evening.
Off to Marineland…30 miles and 4 hours later we were there! The trip was delayed because of the bridge construction next to the marina. Our boat has a 5’ draft and 18’6” is our height. There was a sunken sailboat to the right of center so we needed to wait until the workers took a break and moved their barge. I planned what I was making for docktails on Wednesday… my Korean pork meatballs, French Quarter cheese spread and some homemade chocolate chip cookies. We pulled into Marineland around 3. It is a nice quiet marina with nature all around! We were on the end of the T-dock and had a great view of the most beautiful sunsets! We ate on the aft deck with Jim and Jackie. Joe and I had crab cakes and a salad.
It was a beautiful evening. Our conversation tonight revolved around planning our docktails the next night. Long story made short, we decided to make Bushwackers. Thanks to our friend Morry for sending me the recipe!

The next day Joe and I took a walk over to Marineland and the beach. People were fishing on the beach but, we didn’t see anyone catching anything. After we were back on the boat I started mixing up the chocolate chip cookies and then baking them of course. A simple thing but oh they were so good!

We had a great docktails that evening with Jim and Jackie, Karl and Mackie and then a super nice couple that docked right behind us, Garth and Sue. It was a great evening. After everyone left Joe studied our trip for the next day.

Again we had to wait to push off because we were waiting for slack tide at St Augustine. It was a beautiful ride along the ICW. Nice easy peaceful ride. I worked til we were getting ready to pull into the St Augustine City Marina. It’s super convenient and we ended up walking through old town. We decided to buy our tickets for the next day on the Old Town Trolly Tours. It was 4:30 ish and we hadn’t had lunch so we stopped for an early dinner. Joe was hungry for pizza. Red wine, salad and pizza that’s what we had!
At the end of day 1 after getting here late we ran into Garth and Sue whom we had docktails with at Marineland yesterday they are on S/V Jabulani.

Day 2 St Augustine and we did our touring on the Old Town Trolly Train. I found some of the tourist attractions to be a bit hokey the way they were presented. We enjoyed our day.

Barbara should loose a few days in Florance
next we got our chance for The Fountain of Youth. They call it the oldest amusement park in the US. More education than amusement though.
600 year old oak tree

Our boat on the other side of bridge
Up next was the old Jail tour
Barbara not shopping here!
We had soup n sandwich at historic Cafe Alcazar. It use to be an indoor swimming pool.
Then we did an historic old home. No photos allowed.
walked to Ace Hardware which was suppose to have a brass fitting he needed for our air horn. When he got there, they didn’t have it. Boo! While Joe did that I stopped by The Ancient olive. I had seen online that they had this pistachio cream which I had bought in Florence Italy before. The last time I was in Florence they were out. Darn! Anyway, they had 2 jars left and I bought them both along with a bacon flavored oil, bourbon blueberry jam, some salami for future docktails and a hazelnut cream. I love hazelnuts! They are my favorite nut!

We had a 7:45 reservation at Columbia’s for dinner. We got cleaned up and walked to Columbia’s tonight. It was a beautiful evening! Joe had soup and a grouper with crabmeat I had a small 1905 salad and a stuffed salmon. Stuffed with spinach, I ate maybe half of it. Probably dinner one night when we are on the St John’s River. Joe went to bed and I watched that awesome Duke/UNC Game. Duke won by 1 point.
Last full day in St Augustine. Joe wanted to go see Castillo de San Marcos, his last time there is when he was 5 years old.

I had tried earlier in the week to get a reservation for Collage tonight for dinner. They were all booked up…darn! I worked on the blog this morning. Joe worked on uploading the photos most of the day. Blogging is hard work.
We ended the day watching Duke/ Fla St and finishing working on this blog…Enjoy!

Guarding the bridge Our boat view from the bridge

Nice pics…Joe has some hair going on!
He hasn’t found a barber yet. I’ve been looking harder then he has for one though.
John I was thinking the same thing on our buddy’s hair. As my grand mother used to say “Lookin like a Run Atcha”. Sure like seeing the smiles in these pictures.
