Well Mother Nature was not so nice on day 4, we took a little dingy trip in the Rowe’s dingy to go out to lunch just a mere 4.5 mile trip. Well their unit would not get up on plane and we got various amount of wetness on the way over to No Name Pub located on Big Pine Key.
After a few drinks and pitchers of beer we waddled back to the marina to head back to the boat. Mother Nature decided to have some fun with us getting back. The wind and waves had picked up…there were lots of 2 foot waves we encountered! Mike’s Dingy has no bilge pump therefore Joe became the water bailer. As we pushed along, the water kept getting deeper in the dingy and the only thing we had to bail the boat out with was a 16 oz empty beer can. With the top torn off Joe tossed out hundreds of refills overboard. Barbara and Leann were cold and very wet, huh we were all wet as all get out! To say the least, we were extremely glad when we saw Rowe Boat and BalaHula. Warm showers and warm clothes were had by all. We took a pass on dinner tonight. We were all full from lunch…in addition to the pizza we ordered coconut shrimp, shrimp ceviche and a strawberry salad… FYI, It took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to cover the 4.5 miles to get home to our rafted up boats.
All slept well. The next morning we pulled anchor and started going North for the first time on our loop. Heading for our first dockage on the trip. Marathon Marina was just 13.8 miles away. Also had to go under the 7 mile bridge.
We are now located at dock #4 for a week. Looking forward to washing clothes unlimited AC and no big waves. Not cheap but this whole trip is not about cheap.
Why do you dock for a week?
We are hanging out here to avoid the Miami Boat show.
Had to get a dock there in 2016 because of weather. Cost us
over $400 per night in fees. Plus we are fishing a few days here.
Enjoying reading your blogs. We are back in Louisville. May be there for a while. Will explain later.
